Konice Chateau

Kostelní 46798 52 Konice / Show map

The Baroque chateau was built in the years 1703 - 1705 by the Olomouc builder Lukáš Glöckel on the order of the abbot of the Premonstratensian order. In 1825, the chateau was bought by the Brno factory owner Karel Příza, and the chateau served as a family residence until 1945.

In the west wing of the building with a square courtyard, there is the rarest part of the chateau, the dining room of the Order's brothers. The ceiling is decorated with a rare fresco "Dining of the Holy Family", created in 1725-33 by Jan Jiří Etgens. Today, the castle has a ceremonial hall with rare ceiling frescoes, a castle gallery, an exhibition of customs and crafts with the largest collection of axes in the Czech Republic and an information center.
